"The Reference5 Meta is part of the Reference range, which has recently been revised and given the ‘Meta’ suffix to indicate the company’s new way of treating energy coming off the back of the tweeter. This is achieved through Metamaterial Absorption Technology (MAT), which absorbs a narrow band of frequencies to reduce distortion.

The MAT system has been carefully designed to offer almost 100% absorption across the spectrum above 620Hz.Ground up greatnessThe Reference 5 Meta features a complete ‘ground up’ design, with changes to the tweeter dome, midrange motor system, driver suspension, and surround to improve linearity and reduce distortion. It can be driven bi-wired or stay with single-wired connections. The cabinet is constructed using constrained layer damping for minimum vibration.

In our test, the Reference 5 Meta showed a revealing and powerful ability to portray key elements of music. It delivers those elements in ne detail and imaging with precision. Reference5 Meta has a powerful, extended bass, even in dry-sounding rooms. The speakers are efficient and comparatively easy to drive too, making them compatible with the widest range of amplifiers.
